Heidi Harrington – Johnson

South African talent internationally gives back to South African charity Faces of Hope Foundation!

Heidi’s Life & Career

Heidi Harrington-Johnson was born in Johannesburg, South Africa and moved to Cape Town at age 5. Family work commitments took her to Hong Kong when she was 10, where she began modeling after being scouted by local and European agencies.

Despite being asked to travel to Japan, London and Paris, Heidi remained in Hong Kong to complete her studies, working with local and international names such as Barney Cheung, Johanna Ho, Lane Crawford, Channel and Christian Dior, gracing her first magazine cover at the age of 15.

On completion of her high schools studies she left Hong Kong for London to continue her modeling career, whilst studying a BA in Media and Communications at the University of Sydney in Australia.

Her international career thus far includes editorials for South African Marie Claire, British Harpers Bazaar, Turkish Vogue, Australian Vogue, L’Official, Citizen K, Purple Magazine, Another Man Magazine, Wonderland and Acne Paper and campaigns for Zimmerman, Ksubi and John Richmond Campaign to name a few.

An avid film lover, she is in the process of filming a short film in London entitled “Ghost Woman”. “Quatre”, the short film she shot with Vernie Yeung of Ridley Scott and Associates has been selected from the La Jolla Fashion and Film festival in California this year.

She also loves all things vintage, from mid-century furniture to clothing and collects vintage watches and black and white portraits from all over the world. If not scowering the flea markets, she can be found cooking for friends, reading or traveling, either for work or to discover a place she’s never been to before.

Whilst currently living between London, New York and Sydney, Heidi will always hold a special place for Africa in her heart. She has fond childhood memories of drinking the Zambezi river water whilst in Zimbabwe to mix her blood with that of Africa’s and swimming for Western Province as a lifesaver.

Heidi Gives Back to South African Charity Faces of Hope

Giving back has always been important to Heidi and she co-founded a charity aimed at raising awareness of eating disorders, whilst at school in Hong Kong. Supporting Faces of Hope as an ambassador, she will wear the Faces of Hope ring, which has been custom designed by Schwartz  . Proceeds from the sale of the ring will go towards raising funds child and adult sufferers of Lymphoma and Leukemia to name a few. Heidi will also be lending her support at Faces of Hope events organized in Africa and abroad, hopefully increasing the awareness of the charity and its unique cause.
