He was trained and studied under a renowned African landscape artist.

Conor and this artist’s shared passion for art dominates their friendship today. Conor attended university in North Carolina on a golf scholarship after graduating from Hilton College, but art remained his true love.
Conor gave up golf to pursue his art career in NYC, here, while studying he signed a modelling contract with an elite modeling agency. Conor attended the Pratt Institute in Manhattan and studied under many great illustrators.
When Conor is in Afica He gets his fix from the smell of the wild sage and Mopani bushes that can only be experienced by walking in the African bush in the early hours of the new dawn, which adds inspiration for a new canvass.
Conor lives and works in NYC and South Africa. He needs the buzz and energy of the big cities to create many of his artworks. If you dont find Conor wondering the streets of Manhattan amongst the monolithic skyscrapers nurturing his creative mind, you may find him on the back of an open Land Rover, trekking across the African bush looking for a different kind of inspiration and beauty!

His Art

Mccreedy has developed a style way beyond his years usually taking artists decades to master, his mastered strokes and lines are of unparalleled powers.

Mccreedy says his art presents ambiguity and contradictions, uncompleted movements and indecisive endings, Mccreedy is of expressionist lineage, through out the series of work as seen in this Indigo Blue’s series the viewer sees a sombre picture upon first glance, an impression that is perpetuated as the image illustrates-more so expresses,a vulnerable and intense as well as sensual and haunting situation.
He often uses his figures as a means to critique contemporary ideas of racial, sexual, and social identity, drawing great amounts of subject material from an archive of personal snapshots.

Best known for his accurate lines and fluid colors, Mccreedy has begun to incorporate elements of self-written language, collage, and charcoals to his paintings. As he continues to mature as a painter, Mccreedy has begun to work within other artistic mediums; most notably, sculpture, to adapt to his broadening interest in natural forms and figures.

Conor Mccreedy’s successes in the art world, at such a young age, have drawn the interest of international curators, gallery owners, collectors and established artists. He is the youngest artist in history to have a solo exhibition at the National Arts Club, a fixture in the New York art world, located in Gramercy Park.

inspired by expressionism; his experimentation with Indigo Blue’s and periwinkle industrial pigments as seen in his newest series, seeks to instill within a viewer a dual sentiment, engaging in a dialogue with the African context.

The National Arts Club, founded in 1898, has had a long association with South Africa. In our recent past, an ambassador from that country has been within the club’s designated membership. In that period, South African artwork was exhibited in club galleries on several occasions and South African wines were served in the club dining room. It is also on record that Nelson Mandela’s Government celebrated Freedom Day in our historic mansion. The club continues a wonderful tradition and unites our two countries with a significant bond and interesting dimension. Thus showcasing the precocious, artist extraordinaire Conor Mccreedy’s exciting “outlier” artwork.
